About Jason Hornady NE

Jason Hornady has devoted over two decades to shaping the firearms and ammunition industry. With over 25 years of experience, he combines a strong business foundation with a deep passion for shooting sports. As Vice President of Hornady Manufacturing Co., he has successfully guided the company, making it a leader in ammunition manufacturing, reloading equipment, and security products. Under his leadership, the company has experienced considerable growth while staying true to its legacy of quality and innovation. His commitment to conservation, shooting sports education, and active community involvement has made him a respected figure in the industry and a staunch advocate for the causes he holds dear.

Born into a family with a long history in bullet manufacturing, Jason’s career path seemed inevitable. His grandfather founded Hornady Manufacturing in 1949, setting the stage for a long-standing family tradition. However, before returning, his father encouraged him to explore other career opportunities outside the family business. He entered the sporting goods sector after completing a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing at the University of Wyoming.

He began his professional journey with Sportco Marketing, Inc., where he worked as a manufacturer’s representative. He managed over 200 dealers and distributors in this role, learning key industry insights and building connections. Afterward, he transitioned to Redfield Riflescopes Inc., where he served as Director of Sales and Marketing. His role involved overseeing all sales, marketing, and product development efforts. He managed a global team of sales representatives and worked with advertising agencies to develop the brand. Redfield ultimately faced foreclosure, but the experience gave Jason valuable lessons that would guide him in future roles. Following this, he joined Dunkin-Lewis, Inc., where his leadership led to a 450% increase in sales with Cabela’s and more than 100% revenue growth with Academy Sports.

In 2006, Jason returned to Hornady Manufacturing Co., a company founded by his grandfather in Grand Island, Nebraska. Although the company was well-established, it needed fresh leadership to help guide it through the next growth phase. His industry knowledge and leadership capabilities were precisely what the company required to build on its solid foundation.

From the start, Jason made a significant impact. His leadership was pivotal in driving the company’s growth, achieving double-digit sales increases for 16 consecutive years. He was also instrumental in introducing over 700 new products, expanding the company’s portfolio, and solidifying its market position. In 2007, he was named Vice President, and under his leadership, the company became a household name in the firearms sector. His marketing strategies helped attract new customers while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, including hunters, competitive shooters, and law enforcement professionals.

Jason’s leadership goes far beyond his work at Hornady Manufacturing. He has long advocated for firearms rights, shooting sports education, and conservation. His involvement with the Congressional Sportsman’s Foundation (CSF) has allowed him to help shape legislation that benefits hunters, sport shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts. As the outgoing Chairman of the CSF Board, he played a key role in advancing policies that protect the rights of individuals who enjoy shooting sports.

He is also an active member of the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation, serving on its board of directors. His deep commitment to conservation has led him to partner with various organizations that protect natural resources and promote sustainable hunting and fishing practices. Jason firmly believes that responsible gun ownership is deeply tied to wildlife conservation and outdoor education; therefore, he continues to champion these causes in both his professional and personal life.

Throughout his career, Jason has been recognized for his leadership and contributions to the firearms industry and business. Nine different manufacturers have awarded him “Rep of the Year,” reflecting his ability to build strong relationships and deliver impressive sales results.

One of the highlights of his career came in 2024 when he and his father were inducted into the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame, an honor recognizing their combined contributions to the state’s economy and industry. Jason has also been awarded the Mid-States Distribution Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to business growth and leadership. The 75th anniversary of Hornady Manufacturing is a milestone that demonstrates the company’s commitment to quality and innovation, with his leadership playing a pivotal role in its success. His expertise has been recognized across the industry and featured in various industry publications and events, further solidifying his reputation as a thought leader in the firearms sector.
